JPG vs HEIC: what changes when you convert
JPG (JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group)) was introduced in 1992 by the Joint Photographic Experts Group and is best known for photos, social media, email attachments. HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container), created by the MPEG group; adopted by Apple in iOS 11, is the better choice when you need iphone camera photos (half the size of jpg at the same quality).
Why convert? HEIC files are typically much smaller than JPG — expect a noticeable reduction in file size.
Upload one file or a whole batch — conversion happens over a secure HTTPS connection and finished files are automatically deleted from our servers within minutes. HEIC photos from an iPhone routinely fail to open on Windows PCs and Android phones.

Frequently
Asked
Questions
Quick answers about this PurePDF workflow.
How do I convert JPG to HEIC?
Upload your JPG files on this page. PurePDF opens the conversion workspace with HEIC preselected — click Convert and collect the finished files from the download hub.
Will converting JPG to HEIC reduce quality?
HEIC uses lossy compression, so there is a small quality trade-off in exchange for a much smaller file. At the default quality setting the difference is invisible for photos and everyday images.
How much smaller will my file be as HEIC?
It depends on the image content, but HEIC typically produces significantly smaller files than JPG. Photographic images see the biggest savings.
Is the JPG to HEIC converter free?
Yes — free with no signup, no watermarks, and no daily task limit.
Are my files private?
Files are transferred over encrypted HTTPS, processed, and automatically deleted from our servers within minutes. Nothing is stored, shared, or used for anything else.
Can I batch convert multiple JPG files?
Yes. Upload as many JPG files as you need and convert them to HEIC in one run.
