HEIC vs PNG: what changes when you convert
HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) was introduced in 2017 by the MPEG group; adopted by Apple in iOS 11 and is best known for iphone camera photos (half the size of jpg at the same quality). PNG (Portable Network Graphics), created by the PNG Development Group as a GIF replacement, is the better choice when you need logos, screenshots, ui graphics, images that need transparency.
Why convert? PNG files are usually larger than HEIC, but you gain pixel-perfect lossless quality. HEIC photos from an iPhone routinely fail to open on Windows PCs and Android phones. Converting to PNG solves that instantly.
Upload one file or a whole batch — conversion happens over a secure HTTPS connection and finished files are automatically deleted from our servers within minutes. PNG photos are pixel-perfect but often 5–10× larger than an equivalent JPG.

Frequently
Asked
Questions
Quick answers about this PurePDF workflow.
How do I convert HEIC to PNG?
Upload your HEIC files on this page. PurePDF opens the conversion workspace with PNG preselected — click Convert and collect the finished files from the download hub.
Will converting HEIC to PNG reduce quality?
No. PNG supports lossless compression, so every pixel of your HEIC image is preserved exactly.
Is transparency preserved when converting HEIC to PNG?
Yes. Both HEIC and PNG support alpha transparency, so transparent backgrounds survive the conversion intact.
Why is my PNG file larger than the original HEIC?
PNG prioritizes lossless quality over compression, so files are usually larger than HEIC. That is normal and expected.
Is the HEIC to PNG converter free?
Yes — free with no signup, no watermarks, and no daily task limit.
Are my files private?
Files are transferred over encrypted HTTPS, processed, and automatically deleted from our servers within minutes. Nothing is stored, shared, or used for anything else.
Can I batch convert multiple HEIC files?
Yes. Upload as many HEIC files as you need and convert them to PNG in one run.
