HEIC vs JPG: what changes when you convert
HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) was introduced in 2017 by the MPEG group; adopted by Apple in iOS 11 and is best known for iphone camera photos (half the size of jpg at the same quality). JPG (JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group)), created by the Joint Photographic Experts Group, is the better choice when you need photos, social media, email attachments.
Why convert? JPG files are usually larger than HEIC, but you gain photos, social media, email attachments. HEIC photos from an iPhone routinely fail to open on Windows PCs and Android phones. Converting to JPG solves that instantly. note that HEIC transparency is not supported in JPG — transparent areas are filled with a white background.

Will converting HEIC to JPG reduce quality?
