In short
How the Random Number Generator works
A random number generator picks values from a range so that every allowed value is equally likely. This one uses your browser’s cryptographic random source, crypto.getRandomValues(), with rejection sampling so no number in the range is favored. Results are generated on your device and never sent anywhere.
Guide
How the numbers are generated
Each number comes from crypto.getRandomValues(), the cryptographically strong random generator built into your browser. Raw random values are mapped onto your range with rejection sampling: values that would make some numbers slightly more likely than others are thrown away and redrawn, so every number in the range has exactly the same chance.
This is strong pseudo-randomness seeded by your operating system. It is the same source browsers use for encryption keys, and it is well suited to games, raffles, classroom picks, and random sampling. It is not physical randomness such as atmospheric noise.

What each option does
| Option | What it does | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum / maximum | Both ends are included | 1 to 6 can return 1 or 6 |
| No duplicates | Each result appears once | 6 unique numbers from 1–49 |
| Odd / even | Only odd or only even whole numbers | Even only: 2, 4, 6… |
| Exclude | Numbers and ranges to skip | 7, 13, 20-25 |
| Decimals | 1 to 10 decimal places, evenly spaced | 0.00 to 1.00 in steps of 0.01 |
| Sequence 1…N | Every number once, shuffled | 1–10 in random order |
| Shuffle a list | Fisher–Yates shuffle of your lines | Random presentation order |
Guide
How do I pick random numbers with no repeats?
Turn on No duplicates. The generator draws without replacement, like taking numbered balls out of a bag. You cannot ask for more unique numbers than the range holds: 10 unique numbers between 1 and 5 is impossible, and the tool tells you so before generating anything.
Guide
How do I randomize a list of names?
Open Shuffle a list, paste one name per line, and press Shuffle. The Fisher–Yates algorithm swaps each position with a random earlier one, which makes every possible order equally likely. To pick winners one at a time with a visual, try Spin the Wheel.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
How do I pick a random number between 1 and 100?
Set the minimum to 1 and the maximum to 100, then press Generate, or use the 1–100 preset. Each whole number from 1 to 100 has the same 1-in-100 chance.
Can I generate random numbers without repeats?
Yes. Turn on “No duplicates” and every number in the result is different. You cannot ask for more unique numbers than the range holds; the tool tells you when a request is impossible.
How random are the numbers?
They come from crypto.getRandomValues(), the cryptographically strong generator built into your browser. It is suitable for games, raffles, and sampling. It is not physical entropy such as atmospheric noise, and we do not claim “true randomness”.
How do I randomize a list of names?
Switch to the Shuffle list mode, paste one name per line, and press Shuffle. The list is reordered with the Fisher–Yates algorithm, so every order is equally likely. The list stays in this browser tab.
Can I generate random decimals?
Yes. Choose the Decimal type and set how many decimal places you need, from 1 to 10.
Can it roll dice or flip a coin?
Yes. The coin, d6, and d20 presets use the same random engine as the main generator.
