Frequently
Asked
Questions

Quick answers about this PurePDF workflow.

Is rotating a PDF free?

Yes. PurePDF Rotate PDF is 100% free with no signup or watermarks.

Do my files get uploaded to a server?

No. Rotation runs entirely in your browser using WebAssembly. Your PDF never leaves your device.

What rotation angles are available?

90°, 180°, and 270° clockwise rotations are available.

Will the rotation be saved permanently?

Yes. The exported PDF has the rotation embedded in the page metadata — it stays rotated in any PDF reader.

Does rotation affect quality?

No. Rotating a page only updates its orientation metadata; images and text are unchanged.

Can I rotate individual pages differently?

The workspace applies a single rotation to all pages. Use the Organize PDF tool to rotate individual pages.

Can I use this on mobile?

Yes. Works on mobile Chrome and Safari.

Is this GDPR compliant?

Yes. All processing is local — your PDF never leaves your browser.

Fixing PDF page orientation permanently

Why pages end up sideways

Scanners feed pages in whatever orientation the paper entered; phone cameras guess wrong about landscape documents; and mixed-orientation originals (portrait letters plus landscape spreadsheets) confuse every automated pipeline. The result is the most common minor defect in the document world: a PDF you have to read with your head tilted.

Viewer rotation — the rotate button in your PDF reader — fixes only your current session. The file itself stays wrong for every recipient. Rotate PDF writes the correction into the document, so it opens right-side up everywhere, forever.

Rotating with precision

Choose 90° clockwise, 90° counter-clockwise, or 180° and apply it in one pass. The rotation updates page orientation metadata without re-encoding content, so the operation is instant and completely lossless.

  • Upside-down scans (the classic double-sided feeder mistake) need 180°.
  • For documents where only some pages are wrong, use Organize PDF to rotate pages individually.
  • Rotation carries into every downstream export — rotate first, then convert to images or Word.
  • Print behavior follows the stored orientation, so a fixed file prints correctly too.

Instant, local, unlimited

Rotation runs in your browser through WebAssembly — no upload, no queue, no server copy of your document. It is the kind of two-second fix that upload-based tools turn into a two-minute chore, and PurePDF imposes no daily count on how many files you straighten.

Orientation in bigger workflows

Scan cleanup usually pairs rotation with two other passes: Remove Blank Pages to drop the empty backs of single-sided originals, and Compress PDF to tame scanner file sizes. Doing rotation first means every later preview — splits, merges, exports — shows pages the right way up while you work.
