PNG vs AVIF: what changes when you convert
PNG (Portable Network Graphics) was introduced in 1996 by the PNG Development Group as a GIF replacement and is best known for logos, screenshots, ui graphics, images that need transparency. AVIF (AV1 Image File Format), created by the Alliance for Open Media (Google, Netflix, Mozilla), is the better choice when you need maximum web compression — typically 50% smaller than jpg.
