GIF vs AVIF: what changes when you convert
GIF (Graphics Interchange Format) was introduced in 1987 by CompuServe and is best known for simple animations and memes. AVIF (AV1 Image File Format), created by the Alliance for Open Media (Google, Netflix, Mozilla), is the better choice when you need maximum web compression — typically 50% smaller than jpg.
