PDF vs AVIF: what changes when you convert

PDF (Portable Document Format) was introduced in 1993 by Adobe and is best known for documents, printing, sharing multi-page content. AVIF (AV1 Image File Format), created by the Alliance for Open Media (Google, Netflix, Mozilla), is the better choice when you need maximum web compression — typically 50% smaller than jpg.

Why convert? AVIF files are typically much smaller than PDF — expect a noticeable reduction in file size.

Each page of your PDF is rendered as a separate AVIF image, so a 10-page document produces 10 images ready to use in slides, websites, or messages.
