PSD vs BMP: what changes when you convert
PSD (Photoshop Document) was introduced in 1990 by Adobe and is best known for layered design work in progress. BMP (Bitmap Image File), created by Microsoft, is the better choice when you need legacy windows applications.
Why convert? A PSD sent to someone without Photoshop usually cannot be opened at all. Converting to BMP solves that instantly. note that PSD transparency is not supported in BMP — transparent areas are filled with a white background.
PurePDF uses the flattened image Photoshop saves inside every compatible PSD, so the BMP looks the way the document did when it was last saved — all visible layers, effects, and text included. CMYK print files and documents with an embedded colour profile are converted to standard sRGB through that profile, so colours do not shift.

How do I convert PSD to BMP?

What happens to transparency when converting to BMP?
BMP does not support transparency. Transparent areas in your PSD file are filled with a solid white background. If you need to keep transparency, convert to PNG or WebP instead.
Do I need Photoshop to convert a PSD?
No. Upload the PSD here and download a BMP. The flattened image is read straight from the file, so nothing needs to be installed.
Are layers kept?
BMP is a single-layer format, so you get the finished, flattened design with every visible layer merged — exactly as it looked when saved in Photoshop.
Why does my PSD say it was saved without a flattened image?
Photoshop only stores the flattened image when "Maximize PSD and PSB File Compatibility" is on. If it was off, ask the sender to save the file again with that option set to Always, or to export a PNG.
Will CMYK colours look right?
Yes. CMYK files and files with an embedded colour profile are converted to sRGB through that profile, rather than by the simple formula many free converters use, which makes print colours look harsh or shifted.
How large can the PSD be?
Up to 100MB per file and 64 megapixels (for example 8000 × 8000 pixels). PSB large-document files are not supported; save a copy as PSD from Photoshop.
