AVIF vs PNG: what changes when you convert
AVIF (AV1 Image File Format) was introduced in 2019 by the Alliance for Open Media (Google, Netflix, Mozilla) and is best known for maximum web compression — typically 50% smaller than jpg. PNG (Portable Network Graphics), created by the PNG Development Group as a GIF replacement, is the better choice when you need logos, screenshots, ui graphics, images that need transparency.
