TIFF vs PDF: what changes when you convert
TIFF (Tagged Image File Format) was introduced in 1986 by Aldus (now Adobe) and is best known for print production, scanning, and archival masters. PDF (Portable Document Format), created by Adobe, is the better choice when you need documents, printing, sharing multi-page content.
Why convert? PDF files are typically much smaller than TIFF — expect a noticeable reduction in file size. TIFF files are huge and browsers refuse to show them, so they need conversion for any web use. Converting to PDF solves that instantly. note that TIFF transparency is not supported in PDF — transparent areas are filled with a white background.
Your TIFF images are placed onto PDF pages in the order you upload them — ideal for turning photos, scans, or screenshots into a single shareable document.

Frequently
Asked
Questions
Quick answers about this PurePDF workflow.
How do I convert TIFF to PDF?
Upload your TIFF files on this page. PurePDF opens the conversion workspace with PDF preselected — click Convert and collect the finished file from the download hub.
What happens to transparency when converting to PDF?
PDF does not support transparency. Transparent areas in your TIFF file are filled with a solid white background. If you need to keep transparency, convert to PNG or WebP instead.
How much smaller will my file be as PDF?
It depends on the image content, but PDF typically produces significantly smaller files than TIFF. Photographic images see the biggest savings.
Is the TIFF to PDF converter free?
Yes — free with no signup, no watermarks, and no daily task limit.
Are my files private?
Files are transferred over encrypted HTTPS, processed, and automatically deleted from our servers within minutes. Nothing is stored, shared, or used for anything else.
Can I batch convert multiple TIFF files?
Yes. Upload as many TIFF files as you need and convert them to PDF in one run.
