TIFF vs BMP: what changes when you convert
TIFF (Tagged Image File Format) was introduced in 1986 by Aldus (now Adobe) and is best known for print production, scanning, and archival masters. BMP (Bitmap Image File), created by Microsoft, is the better choice when you need legacy windows applications.
Why convert? BMP files are usually larger than TIFF, but you gain legacy windows applications. TIFF files are huge and browsers refuse to show them, so they need conversion for any web use. Converting to BMP solves that instantly. note that TIFF transparency is not supported in BMP — transparent areas are filled with a white background.
Upload one file or a whole batch — conversion happens over a secure HTTPS connection and finished files are automatically deleted from our servers within minutes. BMP stores raw uncompressed pixels — files are enormous compared with any modern format.

Frequently
Asked
Questions
Quick answers about this PurePDF workflow.
How do I convert TIFF to BMP?
Upload your TIFF files on this page. PurePDF opens the conversion workspace with BMP preselected — click Convert and collect the finished files from the download hub.
What happens to transparency when converting to BMP?
BMP does not support transparency. Transparent areas in your TIFF file are filled with a solid white background. If you need to keep transparency, convert to PNG or WebP instead.
Is the TIFF to BMP converter free?
Yes — free with no signup, no watermarks, and no daily task limit.
Are my files private?
Files are transferred over encrypted HTTPS, processed, and automatically deleted from our servers within minutes. Nothing is stored, shared, or used for anything else.
Can I batch convert multiple TIFF files?
Yes. Upload as many TIFF files as you need and convert them to BMP in one run.
