PDF vs SVG: what changes when you convert

PDF (Portable Document Format) was introduced in 1993 by Adobe and is best known for documents, printing, sharing multi-page content. SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics), created by the W3C, is the better choice when you need icons, logos, and illustrations that must stay sharp at any size.

Why convert? SVG files are typically much smaller than PDF — expect a noticeable reduction in file size.

Each page of your PDF is rendered as a separate SVG image, so a 10-page document produces 10 images ready to use in slides, websites, or messages.

Preguntas frecuentes

Respuestas rápidas sobre esta herramienta de PurePDF.

How do I convert PDF to SVG?

Upload your PDF file on this page. PurePDF opens the conversion workspace with SVG preselected — click Convert and collect the finished files from the download hub.

What resolution are the SVG images?

Pages are rendered at roughly twice their on-screen size, or three times on the High quality setting — enough detail to read small print and to print the result.

Do scanned PDFs work?

Yes. A scanned page is already an image, so it converts to SVG exactly as it appears in the document.

How much smaller will my file be as SVG?

It depends on the image content, but SVG typically produces significantly smaller files than PDF. Photographic images see the biggest savings.

Is the PDF to SVG converter free?

Yes — free with no signup, no watermarks, and no daily task limit.

Are my files private?

Files are transferred over encrypted HTTPS, processed, and automatically deleted from our servers within minutes. Nothing is stored, shared, or used for anything else.

Can I convert every page of the PDF?

Yes. Every page is converted, one SVG image per page, and a document of more than one page is delivered as a zip.
